Ordinary Hero Fundraiser

Well.....we started a fundraiser today through Ordinary Hero.

It is humbling to ask others to help. Humbling. A knock to our American self-sufficiency.

Adoption is expensive. Sad but true. One wonders how many kids, of the 145 million(ish) orphans worldwide, could be placed in loving families if finances weren't an obstacle?

I'm sure it would be a lot.

For us, the majority of our need is to raise money for travel. We have paid the majority of our agency fees and our dossier is translated and registered in Ethiopia. So now we are just awaiting our referral (where we find out who our daughter is!). We could receive the referral of our little girl any day now OR it could take a few months. Ethiopia requires two trips to the country (Jason & I will both be going). We will make one trip for Ethiopian court and then make another trip once our girl has been cleared to enter the U.S. (typically 6-8 weeks after passing court). As you can imagine, the cost of travel quickly adds up.

Ordinary Hero, takes monetary donations on our behalf, which are tax-deductible. The donations are then sent directly to our adoption agency to help with our adoption cost. If you donate online you will immediately receive a receipt for your donation.

Or you could choose to purchase really cool items on their site (adoption related T-shirts and such) and they will give us 40% of the proceeds from the items sold.
